At first glance the words “Dental” and “Spa” do not seem to be related. That is until Dr. Joseph Santelli, a general dentist in Duxbury, decided to do some research. After building a very successful dental practice in Plymouth for over 30 years, Dr. Santelli has opened a new, state-of-the-art dental facility in the town where he and his wife reside. The rest, as they say, is history.
“I went on the internet and typed in “Dental Spa” and lo and behold found several dental practices across the country that specialized in making each and every person coming to their office feel very pampered. Their dental services were being performed in a spa-like atmosphere. Because I am the type person who likes to “kick the tires” before I make a purchase, I decided to visit several of these offices. I traveled to Savannah, Ga., Denver, Co., Dallas, Tx. and Phoenix, Az. Each office had several unique features but surprisingly they all had many similarities. For one, the practitioners were all between 55-65 years old (I am 62). They all had their wives working in their offices as does my lovely wife (of 36 years) Bertha. The offices were all small, very efficiently run, saw only a few patients each day and the employees loved working in that type setting.”
“Aside from my wife I have only one other employee, Joanne Bray, another Duxbury resident, who has been my certified dental assistant for almost 32 years. The offices I visited were all paperless, digital with their x-rays (90% less radiation) and front deskless. When I interviewed some of the patients in these practices I found a common thread. Not one person minded being there for their appointment! They felt like they were the only person in the practice, their needs and wants were taken care of quickly and comfortably and they all felt that their dentists kept up with the latest technology.
“Upon returning to Massachusetts, after each of my travels, I kept adding pieces to the puzzle which was to become the blueprint for my new dental office. We wanted to create an environment of total trust where every person’s questions were fully answered. We also wanted to do as much dentistry each visit to save our patients time away from their work places, families or just leisure time. And we definitely wanted to do all of this without causing any discomfort and we are proud to say that we have accomplished this right down to using computerized anesthesia (The Wand). Our patients therefore do not even feel the injections. And last but certainly not least, we wanted to perform those dental procedures that we most enjoyed doing and that our patients strongly desired. The two dental procedures that we feel we excel in are the “No shots, No drilling Lumineers (porcelain veneers) and the Revolutionary Mini Dental Implants”.
“But, getting back to our Dental Spa, at the end of a cosmetic makeover or placing several mini implants our patients are invited to relax in a room which has a professional, remote controlled massage chair. It’s the kind you see at the Brookstone’s stores. Every muscle from your neck down to your legs can be gently massaged as you listen to our built-in waterfall, breathe in our fragrant herbs and relax in our candle lit Spa. Other people enjoy watching their favorite program on the flat screen TV or just view a mood altering DVD. Usually within 10 minutes our patient has closed their eyes and many times even fall asleep. We feel at that point we have accomplished our mission!
“Your office was very curative and pleasant to the mind” Mr. R.A.
“Please do not change a thing. I LOVED the whole experience” Mr. E.D.
“Bertha and Joanne were very helpful and delightful. Everyone made me feel very comfortable” Mrs. N.F.
“You have the highest level of professional expertise, friendly and kind interactions, up to date dental technology and beautiful décor. They all added up to a positive dental experience.” Mrs. E.W.
