The Average American Puts on 5 LBS of Fat Between Thanksgiving and Christmas! Now that’s a scary statement! No one’s telling you not to “enjoy” the holidays and let go a little bit but if you want to fit into your pants for Christmas, we need to try a little moderation.
Five Tips to Fight the Fat!
Eat “clean” and watch your portion sizes during the week so when those holiday parties come up, you have set yourself up for some wiggle room in your diet.
Choose your indulgences wisely. Having a little something everyday can turn into a lot over the course of the week. You’re better off having 2-3 meals where you indulge than something everyday. It’s much easier to keep things in check this way.
Take the extra step. When doing your holiday shopping, park a little further away; take the stairs instead of the elevator; hand deliver a message at the office rather than emailing it.
Start a new holiday tradition. Do you have a tradition of going to the movies Thanksgiving night? Or meeting up with old friends at the local pub the night before? Try starting a tradition of participating in a local holiday 5k, start a family flag football game, or go on a leaf collecting walk.
Set yourself up for success. Enlist in a support system! People who have support are more likely to stick with something, including fitness! Set an appointment with a friend to meet up at the gym or take a class for accountability. Just get yourself to the gym, you’ll be motivated to work out because everyone else around you already is.
So here’s to the holidays! Go ahead, be merry and full of joy… just don’t let yourself get too jolly!
Happy Holidays from your friends at Pinnacle Health & Fitness.
