Seniors can now save on in-home, non-medical care now that Home Instead Senior Care has an exclusive relationship with Harvard Pilgrim Health Care and Tufts Health Plan through their member discount programs. No other non-medical home care provider in Massachusetts has this relationship with these two companies.
What is Non-Medical Home Care?
Non-medical home care consists of services such as companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, errands, grocery shopping, medication reminders, pet care, incidental transportation, bathing, grooming, toileting, Alzheimer’s Care, hospice care and much more.
Why is this exclusive relationship new?
Most insurance companies do not consider this type of care a necessity. So seniors who require a little bit of extra help in order to remain at home, have to pay for these services privately. We’re thrilled to have been chosen as the exclusive provider of elder care services for Harvard Pilgrim Health Care and Tufts Health Plan. Working together with these two leading health insurance companies in Massachusetts, will help keep seniors living where they want to be, in their homes, without uprooting them. Any savings we can offer in today’s economy is important.
What discount will seniors be able to receive?
Harvard Pilgrim Health Care subscribers and Tufts Health Plan members and eligible family members will receive a one-time $100.00 credit toward charges for services and a free home safety inspection ($75.00 value) at the start-up of services.
Who provides the care?
Home Instead Senior Care employs CAREGivers to provide these non-medical services to their clients. All CAREGivers are carefully screened by conducting a criminal background check (CORI), driving record check, social security trace, sex offender list check, and six reference checks. CAREGivers go through a multi-phase training program that includes personal care training, hospice and palliative care training, and Alzheimer’s care training. They are also bonded and insured.
When are services provided?
Services are provided 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year wherever a senior may call home. For instance, some seniors reside in an actual house, while others are in an assisted living facility or nursing home. Some clients come on service permanently, while others may just be short term until they recover from a hospital or nursing home stay. During the summer and holiday months, many clients receive care while their family is on vacation or out of town. No length of time is required to benefit from these services.
