What did you eat for breakfast this morning? Many of us start the day with coffee and a bagel. This is a set-up for sugar cravings and here’s why:
Both the caffeine and simple carbohydrates shoot your blood sugar up like a rollercoaster. You might feel energized after you eat, but a few hours later you’ll come crashing down as your blood sugar drops below normal.
You can balance your cravings with a brief detox, whole fresh foods, and the tips below:
• Your Mom was right—you need to eat a healthy breakfast. This means high-protein and high-fiber foods.
• Avoid lots of simple carbohydrates like bread, muffins, cookies, pasta, and potatoes.
• Deconstruct your cravings to find out what you really need.
