Ballroom dancing is a fun indoor activity for everyone!

Looking for something new to help keep you active even though the temperature has dropped and the trees are bare? Then you should try ballroom dancing! Dance lessons are a fun indoor activity that not only can help keep you fit during the colder months, but are also a fun way to meet new people and learn a valuable social skill!

Even if you think you have two left feet and no rhythm, you can learn to look and feel comfortable on the social dance floor. Our instructors are skilled in working with people of all levels and abilities, and we can get you up and moving on your very first lesson.

What Can I Learn?

At a Fred Astaire Dance Studio, you can learn any dance that you may use at a party, nightclub, wedding, or other social event… from the foxtrot, waltz, and tango, to the faster beats of the swing and salsa -- and everything in between!

Who Do You Teach?

Our students are of all ages and abilities, ranging from absolute
beginners to veteran competitors and from ages eight to 88.  And, you can take lessons with or without a partner. In fact, sometimes it is better to learn on your own so that you can spend 100% of your lesson working on you.

What Do I Wear?

Dress comfortably and avoid restrictive clothing (such as a long tight skirt). Avoid shoes that may slip off easily while dancing (such as mules or flip-flops) as well as sneakers - they tend to stick to the floor.

How Do I Get Started?

We offer a two-lesson Introductory Course that will introduce you to our studio, the styles of dance we teach, and our unique teaching methods. After this course you will have a better idea of which dances you want to learn and how you can continue at our studio.

Learning to dance isn’t just about just mastering steps to music… dancing is a perfect combination of physical activity, social interaction, and mental stimulation. In fact, for someone who has never danced before, dancing can open up a whole new world that provides many different benefits, just some of which are:

Health

When you dance, your cardiovascular system improves, your muscle tone increases, and you burn calories. This low-impact aerobic activity also increases flexibility, strength, and balance. Olympic athletes often dance as part of their training to sharpen their control, agility, and speed. Dancing is great exercise in a pleasant, fun atmosphere.

Confidence

Dancers possess an aura of self-confidence and an ability to enjoy themselves more in social situations. When you learn how to dance, your entire mental outlook will take on a fresh sense of creativity, motivation, and energy. This new self-confidence in your dancing abilities will transfer to other aspects of your life as well.

Self-Expression

Dance provides an emotional outlet so that you can reflect your feelings through your body movements with passion and flair. Dancing will bring out, improve on, and strengthen your ability to permanently use these expressive qualities even when not dancing.

Social Life

Dance lessons are an easy, low-pressure way to meet people. Fred Astaire Dance Studios provide weekly practice dance parties, nights out on the town, regional and national competitions, and fun trips to many different locations. Our lessons are the perfect place to rediscover you!

Relaxation

In today's fast-paced world, we sometimes forget to take a moment for ourselves. Dancing provides a temporary escape from your normal daily activities, a chance to relax, relieve stress, and an opportunity to concentrate on yourself.

Fun

Dancing is a great way to add excitement to your life. Although learning to dance takes concentration and dedication, you will be constantly surrounded by artistic, cheerful people who make learning a pleasurable and rewarding experience. You’ll never know how fun learning to dance can be unless you walk into our studio and dance out!
