“Smarter Fun in Summer” camp begins June 22nd for children ages 6-13 at  from 8AM to 5PM and continues for ten weeks at $140.00 per week. Three-day camp is also available.  Evolving from the Boys & Girls Club of America’s signature Project Learn program, Smarter Fun in Summer camp is designed to keep children active, safe, and happy in the summertime while providing activities that reduce or prevent “summer learning losses.”  Research has shown that children who do not practice reading, writing, and computation skills in the summer return to school in September less prepared for learning than they were in June.

Concerts in the Park Series - Buzzards Bay Park

The Cape Cod Canal Region Chamber of Commerce will kick-off its “Concerts in the Park” series in grand style on Thursday evening, July 2nd.  Local favorite “Hot Soup” will be performing in the Gazebo at Buzzards Bay Park, Main Street, Buzzards Bay.  Concert goers are urged to wear their finest red, white and blue attire as we start the July 4th festivities.   Bring a blanket or a lawn chair and the entire family to this favorite summer happening.   Make this holiday weekend a real hometown event starting with the concert Thursday evening, followed Saturday morning with the “Bourne on the 4th of July Parade” which steps off at 10AM on Main Street in Buzzards Bay.


The Chamber’s “Concerts in the Park” series will continue every Thursday night during July and August from 6:30PM – 8:30PM, with the exception of Thursday, August 27th slated for a rain date if necessary.


The concerts are funded in part by a grant from the Bourne Cultural Council and the Massachusetts Cultural Council and are supported by 20 local businesses.  Admission is FREE.  FREE PARKING is available at the Chamber Business Office and the US. Army Corps of Engineers parking lot at the base of the Railroad Bridge.
